The ILAACP recently partnered with Aetna insurance to convene three Unnatural Causes town hall meetings in Cook, Kane, and Peoria counties. Each event included a 30-minute screening of the from the series followed by a 2 hour focus group, in which participants identified regional policies and initiatives to promote health equity. This initiative helped ILAACP to establish important linkages with community-based organizations from around the state, such as the Heartland Community Health Clinic, Neighborhood House Association, and Quad County Urban League. The ILAACP is now working with the Midwest Latino Health Research Training and Policy Center at the University of Illinois at Chicago to analyze the focus group data and explore the feasibility of publishing a report.
