Baltimore City Health Department

LOCATION: Baltimore, MD, U.S.A.

ORGANIZATION TYPE: Government

FOCUS AREA: Children / Families, Environment / Land Use, Food security / Nutrition, Health Care Delivery, Housing / Neighborhoods, Public Health, Race / Ethnicity, Social Inclusion

HEALTH EQUITY INITIATIVES: The department works towards health equity at many different levels. As a local health department in a city with high rates of poverty, we serve many of the people most at risk for poor health outcomes because of social determinants of health. The health department is also engaged specifically in a cardiovascular health initiative designed to improve outcomes among the city's African American residents, a population suffering from excess rates of CVD. We are also engaged in several collaborations with the Planning and Transportation Departments around ensuring that land use promotes public health and that a planning transportation development will be used to maximize potential public health benefits.

ACTIVITIES WITH UNNATURAL CAUSES CAMPAIGN:
- Host a screening event featuring UNNATURAL CAUSES
